Literature
That
Lasts.

Red's Press publishes literary fiction that doesn't flinch. Books for people who read on the bus, at the bar, in the bathtub or wherever the world gets loud and you need a reason to go quiet.

About the Press

The
Common
Uncommon.

Colombo, 2024

Red's Press started in 2025 out of a studio apartment in Montreal with a stack of manuscripts, and the conviction that the best stories aren't the ones that win prizes, they're the ones that your mind cannot escape from.

We are an independent literary fiction press. That means we answer to our authors and our readers, full stop. No earnings calls. No algorithm. Just books that we believe in, made by people who stayed up too late writing them.

Our catalog is deliberately small. We'd rather publish six books a year that matter than sixty that don't. We work closely with each writer because a good book is a conversation, not a transaction.

01
Literary Fiction Primarily
Character-driven, language-forward work. Novels and novellas. We typically don't publish genre fiction, non-fiction, or memoir — but we admire all of them.
02
Authors First
We work closely with our authors and aim to build long term relationships to help them grow and develop. The work doesn't happen otherwise.
03
Print That Lasts
Sewn binding, quality paper, covers designed to be kept. We care about the physical object as much as what's inside it.
04
Modern Approach to Marketing.
We let the work speak. We manufacture buzz, enable authors, and optimize for distribution in the 21st century.

Send Us
Your Work.

We're always reading. We don't use a submission portal, send us an email. It goes to a human. We will read it.

  • What we're looking for
Literary fiction manuscripts, complete or near-complete. Novels and novellas. Character-driven work with real language in it.
  • What to send
A brief note about the book (no more than a paragraph), the manuscript as a PDF or .docx, and your contact information. That's it.
  • What not to send
A synopsis longer than one page. Genre fiction. Anything you wrote this week.
  • Response time
We try to respond within 30 days. If you haven't heard from us after that, it's okay to follow up once.
  • Simultaneous submissions
Fine. Just let us know if it gets picked up somewhere else first.

We're Building
Something Good.

Red's Press is a small, scrappy, independent operation and we're always interested in meeting people who care about good writing. Whether you want to help shape what we publish or how we tell the world about it, we'd love to hear from you.

We're especially interested in writers, editors, graphic designers, and journalists, but honestly if you're smart and you care about literature and culture, just say hello. The press grows with the people in it.
